The recent major disasters have surfaced the long-standing discussion on the importance of leadership in managing disruptions be they natural or man-made. The matter is of particular importance of commercial supply chains where leadership is not only about one’s own organization, but is by also in ensuring that upstream (i.e. supplier) and downstream (i.e. customer) organizational partner interests are taken into account as well. Dr. Azadegan and a team of researchers have been investigating the role of leadership during supply chain disruptions.
During this session, attendees will be introduced to a hands-on exercise where they will need to assess the effectiveness of a leader in facing a particular type of supply chain disruptions. Researchers will tally the results and (along with presentation about past findings) will engage the audience in an interactive discussion on how leadership effectiveness can be influenced by the disruption context.
